Find Balance in an Unbalanced World

Why does life seem so overwhelming?

We set goals and have good intentions, but there never seems to be enough time, money or energy for achieving life’s biggest goals.  Instead of making progress, our lives seem even more out of balance.
Sound familiar?

Well, for the next few weeks, I’d like to help you overcome the overwhelm and work on achieving balance in every major life category.

How will we do that?

Using a strategy I learned from Dr. Dave Braun and Dr. Troy Amdahl, authors of the bestselling book, Oola: Find Balance in an Unbalanced World: identify where you’re out of balance, then jot down three tasks a day that will move you toward balance in that area (or areas) of your life.

Here’s an example:

If your finances are a mess and credit card debt is causing you extra stress, your to-do list might look like this:

1. Make a list of all debts in order of total amount due
2. Make an extra payment (today) on the smallest debt while still making minimum payments on the others
3. Research ways to make extra money to pay off all debt

START TODAY: IDENTIFY WHERE YOU ARE OUT OF BALANCE

You CAN overcome the overwhelm.
To start, identify your biggest stressor in each of “The 7 F’s of Oola” (below).
Write down your list in a journal or on your smartphone, so you can refer back to it.
Are you out of balance in:

Fitness: Excess weight? Poor nutrition? Minimal exercise?
Finance: Crushing debt? No retirement plan? Too much month at the end of the money?
Family: Need to set some boundaries? Marriage on life support?
Field: Career stress? Low pay or benefits? Unfulfilled?
Faith: No real relationship with God? Need a daily practice?
Friends: Toxic friends that bring you down? Need mentors?
Fun: No time for fun? Waiting until you’re older or retired?

Whatever is stressing you, let’s work together to completely transform your life into one of balance, growth and purpose.
I’ve joined forces with Dave and Troy to bring my followers the Oola formula via a 10-week coaching experience designed to transform your life, your finances, your relationships and more.

2021: Your Breakthrough Goal. Who’s On Your Team?

You probably have a list of people you call on a regular basis: your sister, your friends, your favorite take-out restaurant. Right???

But do you have a list of people you call to help you with your most important life goals?

Do you have a list of mentors or accountability partners who can help you achieve your OolaOne breakthrough goal and create the ultimate lifestyle you want?

Right now, you have an opportunity to reshape your life into something amazing—a life where you’re happy, balanced, and growing (with a lot less stress)—but also a life where you’re looking forward to what else the world has in store for you.

Of course, we all have that opportunity, but many of us just need a little help.
A little support.
And...most of all - Accountability.

That’s where I come in.
As a Certified Oola Life Coach, I help people from all walks of life plan for the future and stay accountable for making progress.

The reality is we don’t always have someone in our life who can fill this role.
Loved ones, spouses and friends are rarely impartial. In fact, they’re far too close to our situation to be neutral.
If you’ve ever asked a friend to be your workout buddy or financial accountability partner—only to have them flake on your regular meetups—you know what I mean.
A professional is really the only person who will be dedicated to your success over time.

Do you need someone to step you through the process of mapping out your breakthrough goal—then keep you focused on creating your  amazing future?

Listen...It only takes 10 weeks to make massive progress.

In fact, I’ve teamed up with my favorite human-potential experts—Dr. Dave Braun and Dr. Troy Amdahl, authors of Oola: Find Balance in an Unbalanced World—to deliver a 10-week coaching program designed to help you get your own OolaLife.

Message me and we can jump on a 30-minute call to discuss it. Or check out the  10-week Oola Coaching Program here for details.

2021: Your Breakthrough Goal. Daily Habits Matter

Did you see my last post about choosing one breakthrough goal in 2021 – a goal that would impact every area of your life?
(If you did choose a goal, and you can reveal it publicly, I invite you to drop it into the comment section and share!)

Sometimes big goals, like your OolaOne goal, seem scary and unattainable, right?

So, the Oola Guys – Dr. Dave Braun and Dr. Troy Amdahl, authors of the book Oola: Find Balance in an Unbalanced World – recommend a handy tool that helps you take small steps toward your goal every day. Ready???

It's simply a 3x5 card.

Yep.

The humble little 3x5 card.

Grab a 3x5 card now and divide it in half (by drawing a vertical line down the center).
List the things you need to accomplish for work on one half—and the things you need to accomplish at home on the other.
Whatever is important today, write it down.

When you’re finished writing, your list may surprise you.

If you find your card is filled with tasks, errands and calls that don’t really move you any closer to your biggest life goal, it’s time to reassess your priorities.

For example, if your goal is to be 100% debt-free, could you do one thing every day toward eliminating your debt?

Instead of writing down “Order that necklace for Tanya’s birthday,” your 3x5 card might read: “List outstanding bills in a spreadsheet.”

Instead of “Start new car shopping,” your card could read “Move $100 from checking account to auto loan.”

See what I mean?

Once it’s written down, you can see what makes sense (or not), and write a different to-do list that gets you closer to your best life ever.

We, at Oola, refer to your (different) lists as “Oranges & Skittles”.
Oranges get you closer to your OolaLife.
Skittles? Well....Skittles are all the other tasks that need to get done.
Oranges are a priority in Oola.

As a Certified Oola Life Coach, I help clients determine their OolaOne goal and then prioritize their daily tasks to be sure steps (Oranges) are being taken every day to reach that goal, and—most importantly—stay accountable to accomplishing those steps week after week.

You may already know that I am passionate about equipping, empowering and supporting others to create a healthy, energetic, more balanced life with less stress, more happiness and greater purpose – one choice at a time.

Whatever Your Goal Was In 2020, Use This Month to Wrap It Up!

For countless people, December is a month for celebrating and focusing on family, friends and what’s truly important.
It’s a month for great food and fun times . . . and giving gifts.

But before you get out the wrapping paper and ribbon, why not inventory your accomplishments over the past year and recommit to the things you wish you’d done?

It’s time to take a serious look at 2020 and wrap it up!

If you’ve been following my posts over the last several months, you know that I am passionate about creating balance and lowering stress in 7 major areas of life. It’s something I learned from “The OolaGuys”—Dave Braun and Troy Amdahl, authors of the international bestselling book Oola: Find Balance in an Unbalanced World.

They recommend (and I do, too) taking inventory to see where you’re at right now – and determine how you’ll get to where you want to be.
So which loose ends do you need to “wrap up” before the end of 2020?
And what do you need to do in 2021 to live the life you really want?

Here are some examples of "Incompletes" from 2020 that may need some wrapping up:

Fitness: Health condition(s) that needs to be handled?
Finance: Overwhelming debt that needs to be paid off (or down)?
Family: Crucial conversations you need to have?
Field: That talk with management about a promotion?
Faith: That Bible study guide you bought months ago?
Friends: Catch up calls to friends who’ve drifted away?
Fun: Travel photos framed or put in a Shutterfly book?

Whatever you need to wrap up this year, why not spend December focusing on it?
And while you’re busy completing those “incompletes”, why not dream a little about the life you want to create in 2021?

Whatever your plans for next year, I can help you stay focused on them.

In fact, I’ve joined forces with The OolaGuys to bring my followers the proven Oola formula via a
10-week coaching experience designed to transform your life, your finances, your relationships and more.

What's YOUR New Normal? Today, Will You Choose Oranges or Skittles?

💚❤️🧡💜💛
What’s your favorite flavor? Mine is lemon yellow.
I’m talking, of course, about that popular colorful candy, Skittles.
If you think about it, our lives are often like that box of candy.
Lots of little tasks every day that add up to, well, nothing.
No meaningful progress on our goals. No celebrating “wins” or achievements.
Just staying stuck in the minutiae of life.
But what if your tasks were a whole lot more focused?
What if you worked on a few BIG goals at a time versus filling your day with errands, calls, and scrolling Facebook?
I’ve mentioned The OolaGuys before. Their book and coaching program, Oola: Find Balance in an Unbalanced World, teaches a simple exercise that illustrates the importance of focus.
If you grab a big class vase (which represents your life), and fill it with pound after pound of colorful Skittles, by the end of the year you’d have accomplished a lot of little tasks, but likely be no closer to your dream life.
But if you fill the glass vase first with oranges—representing your biggest life-changing goals—you could still fit in the Skittles in the gaps and airspace around the oranges.
In other words, you CAN fit in the major goals you want to accomplish in life, and still handle the basic day-to-day tasks in the spare time you have left.
Of course, you’d have to stay focused: no mindlessly checking Pinterest, no binge-watching Season 4 of Friends.
But one way to stay focused is to be crystal-clear about your dreams, goals and outcomes. Use that 3x5 card (from my previous post) to be sure that the action steps you need to accomplish your dreams and goals are filled out nightly and referred to daily to keep you on track.
Research what it takes to get what you want.
State your goals clearly in terms of numbers, time, improvement, and deadline.
If you need help staying focused and accountable to your goals, I’m here to help.
Together, we can make sure you’re focused on oranges and not Skittles. In fact, you can make massive progress in just 10 weeks with the Oola Coaching Program—delivered jointly by The OolaGuys and me.
Message me and we can jump on a 30-minute call to discuss how coaching can work for you.
Or, check out the Oola Coaching Program for details.

What are your most important “oranges”, as well as the Skittles you’re willing to give up❓💙
