Oola Accelerator: GRATITUDE. There’s so much to be grateful for.


 Some days are just overwhelming, right?

OOLA Blocker #7. FOCUS. Overcome time bandits and stop chasing squirrels.


Full disclosure. This is my "favorite" Oola Blocker. 
Also...that's not necessarily a good thing.😉
But, I digress…
 
It’s often said, “You get what you focus on".

Whether it’s getting out of debt, improving your family’s lifestyle, reaching a new goal in your business or anything else you want to accomplish, spending the necessary time and energy is the only way to accomplish it.
Unfortunately, most people’s "Focus" is either scattered or misdirected—which – let’s be real --can (& does) keep us from getting the life we really want. 

In fact, lack of focus is the 7th of 7 Oola Blockers that I’ve been posting about over the past few weeks.
Hanging out on social media, watching TV, spending unnecessary time on the phone . . . how can you overcome these time bandits and stop chasing the squirrels that can rob you of your future?

Use a strategy I learned from human-potential experts Dave Braun and Troy Amdahl—authors of the bestselling book, Oola: Find Balance in an Unbalanced World.

Become a laser, not a flashlight. (That’s really good, isn’t it?!?)

Unplug more, volunteer less, and simply say “no.” 

Instead of overscheduling and working on a broad array of tasks, focus your time and energy - 
like a laser-beam—on just those things that will get you closer to your goal.

What are those? 

Sometimes it’s hard to tell. 

Everything seems urgent and important these days. It’s hard to be impartial.

OOLA Blocker #6. ENVY. Are you in competition with an impossible standard?


“Comparison is the thief of joy.”
 
I love this quote from President Theodore Roosevelt because it tells us that constantly judging ourselves against some impossible standard of living or someone else’s level of success can actually rob us of the joy we get from the awesome aspects of our own lives. 

For the past few weeks, I’ve been talking about the blockers that can keep us from achieving a dream life that will truly make us happy—a life of less stress, more joy, a career we love, a home life that’s balanced, and opportunities for us to pursue our passions and always be growing. 

But today’s blocker constantly puts us in competition with an impossible standard. It’s . . .

Envy.

All too often we see what others have or listen to what society says is the “ideal life". 

But the reality is that you have unique gifts and abilities and dreams and desires, so comparing yourself to some fixed standard isn't even fair. 

Worse yet, most people haven’t researched what it would be like to maintain that house, do that job, or travel to that exotic locale. 

It’s possible you wouldn’t even like those things once you acquired them. 

Your job, instead, is to decide what’s right and authentic for youat this point in your life - then pursue it with all your heart.

Envy is never part of a balanced lifestyle. 

And coaching people through finding balance and achieving life changes in every major area is something I do through a unique coaching program designed around the bestselling book and coaching framework: Oola. Find Balance in an Unbalanced World.
