If you rummage around in your desk drawer or supply cabinet, you’ll likely find one of the most powerful and life-changing tools available today: the humble 3x5 card.
When I first read the book Oola: Finding Balance in an Unbalanced World, its authors—Dr. Dave Braun and Dr. Troy Amdahl—recommended their own daily strategy for getting things done and achieving goals that will change your life.
It’s this:
Grab a 3x5 card and divide it in half by drawing a vertical line down the center. List the things you have to accomplish for work on one half—and the things you have to accomplish at home on the other. Whether it’s finishing that sales report or running errands—whatever is important today—write it down.
When you do, that 3x5 card may surprise you.
If you find your card is filled with busy tasks, errands and calls that don’t really move you closer to your biggest life goals (we call those “Skittles”), it’s time to reassess your priorities.
For example, if your goal is to be debt-free, could you do one thing every day toward eliminating your debt?
Instead of writing down “Order that bracelet for Gennifer’s birthday,” your 3x5 card might read: “List outstanding bills in a spreadsheet.”
Instead of “Start new car shopping,” your card could read “Move $100 from vacation fund to auto loan.”
See what I mean? Once it’s written down, you can see what makes sense (or not), and write a different to-do list that gets you closer to your best life ever: your “new normal" - the "normal" that YOU CREATE.
As a Certified Oola Life Coach, I help clients create a list of goals, then prioritize their tasks and—most importantly—stay accountable to accomplishing them week by week.
We, at Oola, refer to your lists as “Oranges & Skittles”.
You may already know that I am passionate about equipping, empowering and supporting others to create a healthy, energetic, more balanced life with less stress, more happiness and greater purpose – one choice at a time.
In fact, I’ve joined forces with Dave and Troy to bring my followers the Oola formula via a 10-week coaching experience designed to transform your life, your finances, your relationships and more.
Message me and we can jump on a call together to chat about it.
Just for fun, drop a comment below and tell us the one thing you’ve decide to do asap. Let’s share!
But for now, pull out a 3x5 card and write your must-do’s for tomorrow. I hope they include getting closer to your goals?!?
“Dream big. Start small. But most of all, start.”
I love this quote from Simon Sinek, the bestselling author of Start With Why.
It gives us permission to dream as big as we want.
But it also comes with a warning: you gotta start somewhere.
If you’ve been following my posts, you’ve already taken inventory of what’s not working in your life, then you’ve created your “dream list” of what you DO want for your life.
Now, it’s time to “start small.”
Here’s a strategy I love that I learned from The OolaGuys, Dr. Dave Braun and Dr. Troy Amdahl, founders of the worldwide Oola Coaching Network.
The three of us are working together to bring my followers an effective path to the life you want—where you’re balanced, happy, and growing. We call it the OolaLife.
Today’s Oola strategy is pretty simple: grab your list of “wants”, then start circling the top 7 things on your list that would immediately change your life—from the money you earn, to the lifestyle you enjoy, to the mentors you have, to the career you’re pursuing, and more.
Choose 7 things.
Then make a list of steps—however small—that you can take to bring those 7 outcomes into your life.
If you want to move up in your company, for instance—because you know a better job would mean more pay—make a list of the things you need to learn or do in order to get the promotion you want.
If your dream list includes spending every summer at the beach, make a list of what you’ll need to do to rent a house, work remotely, get extra vacation time or otherwise make it happen.
Once you have your steps written down, you’ll be better able to tackle them one by one. And in my next post, I’ll give you a super easy formula for achieving baby steps toward your goals every day.
Of course, to stay on track with your goals (when it’s so easy to get distracted), I’m happy to be your coach and accountability partner. You may already know that I am passionate about equipping, empowering and supporting others to create a healthy, energetic, more balanced life with less stress, more happiness and greater purpose – one choice at a time.

What’s the first step YOU can take toward your goals?
Did you use the recent shutdown to do some dreaming about the life you really want?
While we’re all still stressed from the global health crisis (among other things), it’s a perfect time to hit the pause button and do some planning.
If your life isn’t giving you the satisfaction you want—
if you’re not happy, balanced and growing—
let's work on deciding what you really want your life to look like.
Below are those 7 key areas I talked about in my last post.
If you did your homework assignment and made a list of what’s not working, now’s the time to turn things around and ask yourself:
What DO I want?
What would make me happy?
What’s the one major thing in my life right now that, if I changed it, would bring more joy, satisfaction, and fulfillment in my life?
For instance, do you want to:
👉Fitness: Slim down, eat better, get sober or something else?
👉Finance: Eliminate debt, earn more at work or buy a house?
👉Family: Improve your marriage or handle a tense situation?
👉Field: Change jobs, get a promotion or start a side hustle?
👉Faith: Reconnect with God, join a Bible group or pray daily?
👉Friends: Find more supportive friends? Find some mentors?
👉Fun: Make time for weekly fun or plan annual adventures?
If you make your “dream list,” then resolve to improve your life and create a “new normal” you love, why not use the best-kept secret of top achievers: coaching.
Of all the things successful people do to accelerate their path to the healthy, balanced and financially secure lifestyle they want, working with a coach is at the top of the list.
The Oola Coaching Program is the formula I discovered that has transformed not only my life, but the lives of countless people around the world.
Not only will it help you define the goals you want to achieve, it will keep you accountable to doing those things every day that bring about the results you want in your life.
Check out Oola Coaching and and consider working with me every week to find balance and calm the overwhelm in major life areas like finances, fitness, family, field (career) and more.
For now, comment below (or message me) with the career, fitness level, finances, faith walk, and family relationships you’ve decided you want for your life.
I’ll be your biggest cheerleader and most supportive guide to getting there‼️💙
It’s time to emerge from the fog and transform your life into the one you’ve been dreaming about.
It’s time to create YOUR “new normal.”
If you’ve been following my posts, you know that I am passionate about getting what you want in the 7 major areas of your life. It’s something I learned from Dr. Dave Braun and Dr. Troy Amdahl—The OolaGuys—who teach how to create balance in our unbalanced world.
Now, as a Certified Oola Life Coach, I help clients address what’s not working for them in the areas of fitness, finance, field (career), family, faith, friends and fun.
Then, together, we go to work on correcting those stressors and bringing about the lifestyle, relationships and financial security they need to be happy, balanced and growing.

So what could the OolaLife look like for you?
For the next few weeks, I’d like to challenge you to decide—
then help you go to work overcoming the current stress of these crazy times we're in, and create your “new normal.”
then help you go to work overcoming the current stress of these crazy times we're in, and create your “new normal.”
Start Today: What’s Not Working in Your Life?
To begin our journey together, let’s take inventory.
While tons of new stressors recently dropped into our lives, let’s be honest…most people already had imbalances that kept stress at an all-time high. Right?!?

To get started, write down your list of what’s not working in your life, so you can refer back to it.
I’ll tell you in the coming weeks how to begin lowering your stress level.
I’ll tell you in the coming weeks how to begin lowering your stress level.
For instance, are you struggling with:
👉Fitness: Excess weight? Poor nutrition? Lack of exercise?
👉Finance: Overwhelming debt? No retirement plan? Too many bills?
👉Family: Need to set some boundaries? Marriage on life support? Feeling disconnected from your children?
👉Field: Career stress? Job loss? Low pay or benefits? Unfulfilled?
👉Faith: No real relationship/connection with God? Need a daily practice or a like-minded community?
👉Friends: Toxic friends that bring you down & hold you back? Need mentors?
👉Fun: No time for fun? Waiting until you’re older or retired?
Whatever’s stressing you, make your list of what’s not working… then, if you’d like, comment below and share where you want to make changes (but maybe not the super-personal details😉).
In my next post, I’ll ask you to start dreaming (BIG) about the “new normal” you want in these areas.
Of course, the 7 areas above come from The OolaGuys. FUN: When Was the Last Time You Had Some?
OK, so the world is a crazy place right now. But can you still give yourself permission to have some fun?
Of course you can!
Good times are the spark that recharges your batteries and refreshes your mind for what’s coming next.
Whether it’s daily fun, weekend treks, or vacations and bucket-list adventures you plan for months, fun is an essential part of being human.
In fact, it delivers real physiological benefits by combatting the stress hormone cortisol in your body.
So, if you’re someone who says, “Fun is for kids. Adults don’t do that” . . .
or if you have the commonly held belief: “I’ll have fun once I retire”, realize that you’re cheating yourself from one of the real joys of life.
What could you do to make a 1% improvement in the amount of fun you have in your life?
It doesn’t require a lot of money. Here are some ideas . . .
• Take a picnic and hike a local trail
• Visit a historical place for the first time
• Text the gals for an impromptu lunch
• Volunteer for a community cleanup day
• Go to an apple-growing region for cider tasting
With some planning, you could even enjoy bucket-list adventures like:
meeting someone famous who inspires you . . . attending a high-level workshop related to your hobby. . .
participating in a mission trip. . . having tea at the Ritz (in Britain!). . .treat someone to something amazing. . .
fulfill a childhood dream (for yourself or with a favorite child in your life).
Comment and tell me the most fun you’ve ever had!
As a coach, I not only help people create a plan for achieving their goals in major life categories like fitness, finances, and field (career), but I also make sure their plan doesn’t leave out the all-important factor of “FUN”.
And…by now you know that I am passionate about equipping, empowering & supporting women over 50 to create a healthy, energetic more balanced life with less stress, more happiness and greater purpose – one choice at a time.
Could you use less stress, more balance, and more fun in your life?
Whether your goals are financial sanity, a more fulfilling career, a loving marriage, or something else, the unique coaching program I deliver is designed to bring about the abundance, happiness and improvement you want.
Why settle for ordinary, when extraordinary is within you?
You deserve an amazing life!
