OOLA Blocker #5. LAZINESS. Stop stalling. Start focusing.

No one likes to be told they’re lazy, but if we’re honest with ourselves, we all have our moments, right?

For the past few weeks, I’ve been talking about the habits, behaviors and mindsets that can keep us from living an awesome life. And if there’s one thing we all struggle with, it’s . . .

Laziness.

What does laziness look like? Well, can you relate to any of these:

  • Procrastination?
  • Avoidance?
  • Creating unimportant busy work and calling it a priority?
  • Putting off something simple that we know will help us get ahead?
So...let’s get real. Let's call it like it is.
Let’s recognize that your dream life is waiting for you on the other side of that laziness.

So what’s one thing you can do to get past the stalling and start focusing on goals that will really move your life ahead?

One strategy I learned from human-potential experts Dave Braun and Troy Amdahl—authors of the bestselling book, Oola: Find Balance in an Unbalanced World—is to do the worst first.
Do the stuff you don’t like early in the day so you can move on to the fun stuff more quickly.

Tackling the unpleasant must-do’s first will free your mind for the activities you’re really passionate about.

So what are the powerful goals in your life that are worth pursuing with passion?

As a Certified Oola Life Coach, I’ve teamed up with Dave and Troy to bring you the Oola Coaching Program designed to help you bring balance in all 7 major life areas:   Fitness, Finance, Family, Field, Faith, Friends and Fun.

Not only does finding life balance lower your stress level, it also frees your mind to achieve the dream life you really want.

Why not schedule your complimentary discovery call to talk to me directly about how coaching works to not only overcome laziness, but also improve your finances, career, business, wellness, relationships and more?

OOLA Blocker #4. SELF-SABOTAGE. Is it keeping you from the life you want (and deserve)?

Did you know that, just as you’re on the verge of achieving the life of your dreams, you run the risk of losing all your progress?

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been talking about the habits, behaviors and mental blocks that keep us from getting where we want to be in life. And the culprit I want to talk about today is . . .

Self-sabotage.

Negative self-talk – hidden in your subconscious mind – will begin to say things like: “You don’t deserve this". "You’re not good enough". "You’re not smart enough".

Even worse, this sneaky form of self-sabotage can actually cause you to take actions that will undo all the progress you’ve made.

Whaaat?!?

Yep...It’s this negative self-talk that’s tells you, "It’s OK to celebrate with ice cream", after you just lost 30 pounds.
It’s the “overthink” that prompts you to blow up that new romantic relationship before it really starts.
Or it’s the procrastination that destroys that once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to advance your career.

Why does our brain DO that?

Over your lifetime, your subconscious mind—which runs your body’s systems, takes in information, and helps you make decisions—becomes programmed to act in your best interests.
It naturally wants to protect you from (perceived) “harm”.

So every time you try to achieve—but fail miserably—your subconscious mind reacts to that painful disappointment by saying, “Okay, so we’re never doing that again.”

It stores the information so it can “protect you” the next time you take similar action.

In reality, “failing” is simply a life lesson -- Something to learn and grow from.

The TRUTH is:
You are smart, successful, beautiful, and accomplished.
You are capable, lovable, talented, and interesting.
You were designed by God for greatness and you are on the planet for a specific purpose.

Always remember that where you are now is not where you’re destined to stay.
Tell yourself daily: “This is just WHERE I am. It’s not WHO I am.

In fact, your life has SO much potential!

One way to overcome self-sabotage is to keep powerful goals in front of you—powerful enough to pull you through the negative self-talk or reckless actions.

And, having loving support and accountability will support you in doing just that.

If self-sabotage is working its way through your life, and you want to show up differently and make some serious changes in your relationships, finances, career, health and more, I have good news: I’ve teamed up with Oola authors Dr. Dave Braun and Dr. Troy Amdahl to bring you a 10-week focused-approach to creating a life that’s balanced, happy, and growing.

Don't just dream about the ideal life you want. Start living it with Oola Coaching.

OOLA Blocker #3. ANGER. Is it blocking you from focusing on more positive goals?

In my series about the habits, behaviors and mindsets that keep us from creating the life of our dreams, can we talk about a significant roadblock for many people?

Anger.

Frustration is a normal response to life’s crazier moments.
But, unfortunately, that five to ten minutes of uncontrolled fury – or persistent and violent anger – has  far greater cost when it comes to your relationships, your life, and your future.

For one thing, anger has a ripple effect. It affects not just you, but those around you, too.

Take your kids, for example. When you stay calm in the face of stressful circumstances, you become their safe harbor in any crisis.
But erupting in anger makes you unsafe, untrustworthy, and someone to avoid when the going gets tough.
About half of kids who grow up witnessing frequent vocal anger are prone to low self-esteem, anxiety and depression.

Anger also affects YOUR equilibrium and physiology.
In fact, just 5 minutes of anger depresses your immune system for hours.

So what’s triggering your anger?

The key is to identify what triggers you and create a solution – a strategy -  that will minimize or remove that trigger in the near term, while you focus long-term on more positive goals for your life (and your family’s).

You can’t take back angry words or actions. And you can never get that time back either.
So being prepared in advance can, literally, be life-changing.

(FYI…I have found that essential oils are very supportive for all emotions. I am happy to share more information on that. Just shoot me a DM.)

If the past year has been a challenge for you, why not start working on creating a life that’s balanced, growing and purposeful?
More than 20 years ago, two holistic physicians—Dr. Dave Braun and Dr. Troy Amdahl—created Oola to help people establish new habits, practice new ways of living, and take those daily actions that are key to bringing life into balance (then keeping it that way).

OOLA Blocker #2. GUILT. Is it stopping you from moving forward on your future?

Recently I posted about overcoming fear and working toward achieving the life you want.

Well, just like Fear, there’s another blocker that can stop us from moving forward on our dreams:

Guilt.

Let’s be real.
We’ve all made bad choices in the past or said things we regret. But when those actions hurt ourselves or other people, guilt often follows.
Even situations in the past that were not our fault—divorced parents or physical abuse, for example—can leave us feeling blameworthy, undeserving and unlovable.

Sadly, guilt can occupy valuable real estate in our minds and even become part of our “story” as to why we can’t take action on achieving our dreams. Worst of all, it can keep us from showing up fully and taking the steps needed to create the life we want.

In the time that I’ve been a Certified Oola Life Coach working personally with bestselling authors Dr. Dave Braun and Dr. Troy Amdahl, I’ve discovered that taking action and staying committed to your goals will not only help you get past Guilt, it will also help you move toward the life you want faster than almost any other way.

To help my followers define their major life goals (and stay accountable to the steps needed to achieve them), I’ve joined forces with Dr. Dave and Dr. Troy to deliver a proven 10-week coaching program designed to transform your life, your finances, your relationships and more.

While the Oola coaching formula works to bring balance in ALL 7 major life areas, I have to say it totally rocks when it comes to overcoming guilt and getting ready to play full out again.

I invite you to strongly consider Oola Coaching and working with me every week to find balance and calm the overwhelm in major life areas like finances, fitness, family, field (career) and more.
It only takes 10 weeks to make massive progress. And, you will be forever viewing your life through the Oola lens - which, believe me, is a very good thing.

OOLA Blocker #1. FEAR. Is it holding you back from the life you want?

“The question isn’t who is going to let me. It’s who is going to stop me.”

I love this quote attributed to philosopher Ayn Rand.

But while it’s interesting to reflect on the many times other people may have stopped us from achieving what we want in life, have you ever considered that the one person most frequently stopping you might be . . .

wait for it….

YOU?!?!?

In their bestselling book, Oola: Find Balance in an Unbalanced World, authors Dr. Dave Braun and Dr. Troy Amdahl describe a series of “Blockers”—those habits, behaviors and mindsets that keep us from pursuing the greatness that’s within us.

For instance, if you’ve ever gotten an opportunity to achieve a long-time goal—only to overthink it and stop yourself from moving forward—that’s YOU putting the skids on YOUR own future.

So what are these Blockers that we subconsciously use to keep ourselves from living an amazing life?

I’ll be sharing all 7 of them with you over the next few weeks.

But, today, let’s talk about the first one: FEAR.

What kinds of things are we normally afraid of?

Our first job interview, starting our own business, moving away from our hometown, speaking up at the office, having that "conversation” with an elderly parent.
These are all things that happen every day throughout the world. And other people survive them.

The reality is that, most of the time, the paralyzing effects of fear are simply unjustified.

As long as your gut instinct (and the facts) aren’t telling you there’s real danger, it’s OK to stay the course, focus on the bigger picture, gather more information, and then…
make your move!

However, if fear is a frequent stopping point for you, the Oola framework may be just what you need to make that move forward!

I’ve joined forces with Dr. Dave and Dr. Troy to bring my followers the Oola formula via a 10-week coaching experience designed to help you break through those Blockers and transform your life, your finances, your relationships and more.

Why not schedule your complimentary discovery call to talk to me directly about how the Oola TRANSFORM Program might help you kick “Fear” to the curb along with any other blockers getting in the way of your Oola Life?!?
